On Friday, May 19 we had a great time being a part of the Portsmouth Junior High School local history day! Groups of students rotated through our building, listening to a bit of our history and asking great questions. (And many pictures of the beautiful stained glass were taken. Our hearts are glad to pass on a love of sacred beauty to another generation!)

We were so pleased to help First Presbyterian Church (our mother church) celebrate 200 years of heritage and hope this weekend!

On Saturday, May 20 we dedicated a Peace Pole, our gift to First. A Peace Pole (begun in 1955) is a call to prayer ("May Peace Prevail on Earth") born out of the violence of the Hiroshima bombing.

Over 200,000 Peace Poles have been planted on every continent and in 180 countries around the world.

Sermon excerpt:

And Rolling Stone, the entertainment magazine, says The Sopranos series finale is one of the best of all time. With the main character dramatically hovering between life and death, Steve Perry from Journey singing, “Don’t Stop Believing” in the background … the TV show suddenly cuts to black. And the viewers are left hanging, wondering how the story ended.[1]

I’m telling you—television series writers have got it DOWN when it comes to saying a memorable goodbye.
